Product Spotlight: HealthyID – Transforming People’s Health From Home

Laura E. Owen, founder and CEO of HealthyID, a digital health company that serves people’s most personal health needs – at home, gets candid about how she envisions digital healthcare evolving and the challenges of bringing a HealthTech venture to life.

1. What personal or professional experiences influenced creating HealthyID?

There is a major national shortage of physicians – over 100M Americans do not have a primary care physician. Furthermore, following COVID, many people now prefer to have their most personal health needs met from the privacy and convenience of their homes. We do that, and we do that at a cost that is often less than the client would pay if they sought the same care through traditional means.

 2. Which particular problem(s) are you aiming to solve?

Our mission is to serve people’s most personal health needs – at home. This includes our Medical Weight Loss Program, At-home health tests, and delivery of certain health and wellness medications (hair loss, skin care and sexual wellness).

3. How do you think HealthyID can address this?

We have physicians and pharmacy partners in all 50 states. Our Medical Weight Loss Program is highly unique as we prioritize optimizing a person’s health as they lose weight. Other services meet other very personal health needs in a user-friendly way.

4. What were the hurdles you faced while bringing HealthyID to life, and how did you overcome them?

We faced many technical and legal hurdles in building HealthyID.com. The old adage “it always takes longer and it always costs more” is a cliche for a reason.

5. What do the next 12-months hold for you?

We will go live in about 1 month, with HealthyID.com and we will be adding hormone replacement therapy, for men and women, in Q3. We are developing solutions for several other medical segments to add to our platform in time. We are launching in the US in 2024, and are seeking partners to expand outside of the US.

6. How do you see digital healthcare evolving?

Digital healthcare is exploding. We serve all the 3 fastest growing segments of digital healthcare. People want privacy and convenience, and they don’t want to waste hours sitting in a clinic or physician’s office. Furthermore, people don’t want certain health and wellness needs on their medical record. We believe digital healthcare is in its infancy and will continue to grow at a very fast pace due to customer demand and due to the shortage of physicians.

7. What do you know now that you wish you had known when you were starting out as a HealthTech entrepreneur?

I wish I better understood the complexity of the tech and legal when we started. It has taken a lot longer, and cost a lot more than initially projected, to bring HealthyID.com to life.
